Health care firm would get diabetes testing products

Boston -- Johnson & Johnson is in "advanced discussions" to acquire Inverness Medical Technology's diabetes management products business for about $1.3 billion in stock, the companies said Wednesday.

Johnson & Johnson, a leader in health care products, would acquire the One Touch blood glucose meters and Inverness' fluid sampling technology in the deal.

Under the proposal, Inverness would split its non-diabetes operations, including women's health, nutritional supplements and the clinical diagnostics business, into a new publicly traded company as the rest of the ...
