Robert Wylie Kilpatrick, 69, an economist with the Office of
Management and Budget and a former professor of economics at Cornell
University, died Oct. 13 of pneumonia and metastasized pancreatic
cancer at Sibley Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of the
District.
Dr. Kilpatrick was born in Washington and received a bachelor's
degree from Haverford College in Pennsylvania in 1957. He received a
master's degree in 1958 and a doctorate in 1965, both from Yale
University, and began his career as an economics professor at
Cornell. He taught there from 1962 to 1971.
As a professor, he was known for his four-color pen, each color
used to communicate a different message to his students. He ...
