After more than a year of construction, Anne Arundel County's
spacious new District Court building will be dedicated Monday and
will open for business the next week.
The $11 million Annapolis courthouse was built to replace a
suite of cramped and often chaotic courtrooms in an aging state
office building.
Though some have complained that the sprawling modern design
clashes with its small-town surroundings, court officials believe
the new building will bring a more dignified atmosphere to District
Court, which offers many county residents their only exposure to the
judicial system.
