Printing companies seeing red ink

Thinner magazines, catalogs blamed for decline in earnings

Thinner magazines and catalogs are making business sluggish for the companies that print them, Wisconsin printing companies and analysts say.

As in many industries, a growing number of printers has considered consolidation or cost-cutting to deal with the economic lull that is hurting earnings in the near-term, experts who follow the industry said.
