Police sources say couple were gagged, likely suffocated

A couple found bound and gagged with electrical cord and duct tape in their south side home suffocated, police sources said Thursday.

The bodies of Juan De Los Santos, 30, and his girlfriend, Carmen Hernandez, 24, were discovered in the upper flat of a duplex in the 2500 block of S. 30th St. Wednesday night.

The couple lived in the sparsely furnished home for about five months, police sources said.
