Captured U.S. drug fugitive escapes from Dane County jail

Suspect exchanged ID with inmate who was to be released

Madison -- A Chicago man booked into the Dane County jail last week after being a fugitive for five months on a federal crack cocaine charge escaped Friday morning after switching identification bracelets with another inmate.

Jail Administrator Capt. Michael Plumer said Rodney R. Raines apparently stretched and removed his plastic identification wrist bracelet and switched it with one worn by Frederick Graham, 20, of Madison, who was being released on bail.
