Lean vinaigrettes make perfect hostess gifts

Invited to parties this holiday season? Giving your own? You may want to make up batches of easy salad dressings to give away or serve at your own feasts. They are easy to make and can be bottled and ribboned for last-minute hostess gifts.

Classic vinaigrette dressing contains three parts oil to one part vinegar or lemon juice, but 1 tablespoon packs a fat punch -- 10 grams plus about 90 calories. Some experts say a healthful dressing should contain no more than 1 1/2 grams of fat per tablespoon and 30 to 50 calories. The following recipes are lean but still luscious.
