OAKLAND -- The Oakland Coliseum wasn't the safest place to be on
Saturday afternoon.
Texas right fielder Carl Everett got hit on the head by a cell
phone, Oakland starter Mark Mulder got hit on the arm by a line
drive, four times batters got hit by pitches, and the baseball itself
got pummeled hard as the A's pounded out 15 hits en route to a 12-2
win over the Rangers.
As pleasing as it was for the A's to follow a 9-0 win Friday with
another blowout Saturday, the game was marred by the actions of one
of the 25,792 in attendance.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, while the A's where increasing
their lead to 7-1, a fan beyond the right-field fence threw a cell
phone that hit Everett on the ...
