ALAMEDA -- Lincoln Avenue residents say their otherwise mellow street is bearing the weight of a recent City Council decision to remove neighboring Buena Vista Avenue from the city's list of truck routes.

The City Council removed the street as a truck route June 17 after residents there complained a disproportionate amount of traffic was turning their street into a raceway.

Now Lincoln Avenue residents have the same complaint.

"Over the past five months I have watched the trucking traffic along Lincoln increase to where it has become completely unacceptable and increasingly dangerous," Christopher Barefoot told city leaders in a December e-mail.
