SAN JOSE -- What started with a low blow turned into quite a show for a national TV audience and a sellout crowd of 17,496 at HP Pavilion on Saturday.

San Jose goalie Evgeni Nabokov came off the bench and stopped all 25 shots he faced, helping the Sharks beat Los Angeles 3-1 in a rare noon start.

The victory extended San Jose's lead over Dallas, 3-0 losers at Detroit on Saturday, to five points in the Pacific Division.

Nabokov was called on to replace starter Vesa Toskala, who stopped seven of eight first-period shots, including one that knocked him from the game with what team officials deemed a "lower-body" injury.
