DENVER -- The San Jose Sharks left the Pepsi Center on Tuesday
night focusing on the big "C" word.
It just wasn't the word the Avalanche had hoped.
Instead of heading back to San Jose with more thoughts of choking
after taking a 3-0 lead in the series, the Sharks took a huge step
closer to the Cup with a 3-1 victory to advance to the Western
Conference finals for the first time in franchise history.
San Jose won the best-of-7 series4-2, brushing aside thoughts of
becoming a historical footnote had Colorado pulled off the unlikely
resurrection.
San Jose will host the sixth-seeded Calgary Flames, led by ex-
coach Darryl Sutter and former goalie Miikka Kiprusoff, in the
