Even as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed compact for a 2,500-
slot-machine Indian casino in San Pablo faces an uncertain future in
the Legislature, at least three other Bay Area casino plans grind
slowly forward.
Chevron Products Co. has sued the city of Richmond to halt the
proposed sale of 220 acres of city-owned land at Point Molate for $50
million to investors working with the Guidiville Band of Pomo
Indians.
The tribe and its investors hope to have that land placed in trust
for development of a casino resort with a 1,100-room hotel, a 300,000-
square-foot shopping mall and a large casino to be operated for the
tribe by Harrah's Inc.
