Article: San Ramon gets disaster prep course

SAN RAMON -- Its 8:30 in the morning and the San Francisco Bay Area has been struck by a 6.8 magnitude earthquake.

The tremor, centered on the Hayward fault, caused extensive damage in Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco and all surrounding areas. San Ramon is an island because of damage and the partial collapse of both Interstates 580 and 680. How will the city react?

Both the scenario and the question were posed to San Ramon police officers, firefighters and city employees Thursday during a disaster training exercise.
