He's the other Alex Smith in the 2005 NFL Draft.

There's Utah's Alex Smith, a quarterback expected to be either the No. 1 pick or among the top picks in the draft. Then there's Stanford's Alex Smith, a tight end expected to go in the second round.

"I met the other Alex Smith," the tight end said in an online chat session with fans orchestrated by ESPN. "We talked at the combine. We talked about how players get us confused all the time. It's kind of funny."

Funny in a good way.

The tight end won't go as high in the draft or sign for as many millions as the quarterback. But his future looks bright.
