Article: Ravenswood vineyard to take root once again

LIVERMORE -- After dying off four years ago, the Ravenswood vineyard is set to return to life.

After 18 months of negotiations between the city and the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, groundbreaking for the 10-acre vineyard restoration project started last week, with planting expected to ensue next spring.

Three acres of the vineyard -- set in front of the historic Ravenswood main house -- will be restored in the old fashioned head- pruned style.

When people look from the street into the vineyard they are going to see the 1800s, said Michael Princevalle of Coastal Viticultural Consultants.

Princevalles firm was granted the job of restoring the vineyard.
