ATHERTON -- Sara Fulp-Allen, a sophomore at Menlo College, has
been named to the United States freestyle wrestling team that will
compete at the 2005 World University Games in Izmir, Turkey,
beginning Aug. 15.
Fulp-Allen, who is ranked second nationally in 48 kilograms, is a
two-time collegiate national champion, winning both the FILA Junior
Nationals and the Senior Women's Nationals in April. She earned
silver medals at the World Team Trials in June and the Junior World
Championships in July.
Meanwhile, Jeff van Gastel was named recently as Menlo College's
new head women's soccer coach. Van Gastel was the Palo Alto High
