SAN CARLOS -- Six candidates are vying for three four-year seats
on the City Council, while the city struggles with a $2 million
budget deficit, the dissolution of the South County Fire Authority, a
recent grand jury investigation into contracting practices and
questions about future development.
Longtime Councilmen Don Eaton and Michael King are not seeking re-
election.
The face-off includes incumbent Matt Grocott, former councilman
and school board president John Hoffmann, and four political
newcomers: Bob Grassilli, Brad Lewis, Len Materman and Alex Phillips.
