PETE GRIFFIN lures viewers with succulent bait, and once they're
hooked, he schools them.
His bait? Hip-hop music.
Griffin, known to his audience as "Cousin Pete," is the host of
"Hip Hop University," a San Francisco public access television show
he created last January.
The 25-minute weekly program airing Tuesdays educates the hip-hop
generation about social and political issues that affect them. The
student-run show covers topics from minority college enrollment to
the AIDS epidemic in Africa and features rap music celebrities like
The Federation, Mistah F.A.B., Jurassic 5 and Special Ed.
Griffin said the idea is to take important issues seen on CNN and
the British Broadcasting ...
