Article: Council: Dublin developers' plans must have public art

DUBLIN -- Developers who want to build in Dublin soon will have to add another line item to their budgets: Public art.

To shore up the city's previous public art policy, which did not establish guidelines for developers, the Dublin City Council agreed Tuesday to proceed with the adoption of a proposed Public Art Master Plan Tuesday night.

Dublin staff members will draft a new ordinance, which is subject to public hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council, requiring developers to finance an on-site art project based on the building value or contribute to a new city public art fund.
