OAKLAND -- City Council President Ignacio De La Fuente promised
Monday to hold a debate in each of Oakland's
50 neighborhoods -- even if he is the only candidate who shows up.
Renewing a challenge he first issued last week, De La Fuente said
he and his rivals owe the citizens of Oakland "unfiltered,
unscripted, uncensored" answers to their questions.
"The next mayor has to be able to answer the questions facing
Oakland," De La Fuente said at a news conference on the steps of City
Hall, closed to celebrate Lincoln's birthday.
De La Fuente (Glenview-Fruitvale) was flanked by residents of
several Oakland neighborhoods who praised him for including areas of
the city -- such as East Oakland -- ...
