THE countdown to the Monday enrollment deadline for the new Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit has been highly publicized in the media, but there has been little focus on the underprivileged and underserved populations.

We live in a multicultural country where diversity is celebrated, where we speak Mandarin, Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, English and many other languages. Yet the U.S. government has focused the majority of its very modest educational efforts on Medicare enrollees who speak English alone and in forums that do not target Medicare enrollees with disabilities.
