Article: Ex-Cal runner eyes Bay race prize

Magdalena Lewy Boulet is almost apologetic when she talks about her debut Sunday in the 95th running of the ING Bay to Breakers.

The Oakland resident -- a former All-American runner at the University of California, Berkeley and a fifth-place finisher in the 2004 U.S. Olympic marathon trials -- has competed in many other Bay Area races.

She won the San Francisco Marathon in 2002 and finished second in the 2005 Bridge to Bridge Run. She has won both the Run to the Far Side 10K and the San Francisco Zippy 5K. But not once since she emigrated from Poland in 1989 has she participated in San Francisco's most famous run.
