Article: Ice cream machine makes tasty treat family pastime

MY NEW ice cream maker is kind of noisy, weighs a ton and takes up too much counter space. But it has turned my house into a den of frozen delights, so I love it.

My new baby is a Cuisinart ICE-50BC Supreme. I shelled out $250 for it because it creates its own chill, and therefore has no need for frozen canisters, ice or salt. You can make ice cream on a whim, and make batch after batch -- five in one day is my record -- as long as the electricity holds out.

You could call the ICE-50BC the Cadillac of ice cream makers, a luxury model to be sure, but not in the same class as the Italian Musso Lussino, at $600, which of course would have to be the Lamborghini of ice cream makers. I'd lusted ...
