Article: Transit time in Utah County

Utah County residents want the chance to pay higher taxes so they can have commuter rail and other transit alternatives.

Well, of course they do.

That much should have been clear to Utah County commissioners back in 2000, as it was to leaders in Salt Lake, Weber and Davis counties. They all voted to allow a ballot measure that year asking voters to approve a quarter-cent sales tax increase to fund more transit. Voters in all three counties approved the measure. But Utah County commissioners decided not to even put the measure on the ballot.

That seemed like a short-sighted move back then. Today, it seems incredibly naive.
