Article: Utah needs more foster parents

Foster parents are tired of being painted with a broad brush, particularly when some foster parent somewhere else does something shameful. They're tired of government scrutiny, so much so that some committed foster parents are giving up, which compounds the chronic shortage of foster parents nationwide. In Utah, the need for foster parents is most acute among Hispanics and in rural communities.

We can't blame people who have already given so much of themselves from being discouraged by the bad publicity surrounding foster care abuses by a few bad seeds elsewhere. But we would hope that foster parents who know how much good can come from providing stability to children with broken lives will ...
