Utah's teenage drivers cause one of every five fatal crashes,
according to data collected in 2001 by the Intermountain Injury
Control Center at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

"One in five is pretty high considering they are only about 9
percent of the driving population. They are a huge percentage of all
the crashes, and that's true all over (the country)," said Lisa Hyde
a center researcher. "The things that contribute to that are
inexperience, immaturity, speeding too much, those kind of things."
