Article: West side shuns Rocky

Salt Lake City's west side doesn't seem to like Rocky Anderson anymore, if primary voting patterns are any indication.

While the mayor cruised to first place in the Oct. 7 primary, gaining 45 percent of the citywide vote, he was whipped by challengers Frank Pignanelli and Molonai Hola on the city's west side.

Pignanelli, who finished second in the primary and is facing Anderson in the Nov. 4 municipal election, won 10 voting precincts on the west side. Hola, who was eliminated in the primary, won nine west- side precincts. The mayor, who promised to revitalize the west side and scored a landslide victory there in 1999, won only two west-side precincts this year.
