Every month, the editors of Washington Consumers' Check- book
magazine report some of the best prices they have found at area
retailers. These are some of the nearly 400 stores surveyed for
Checkbook's semi-annual Bargains shopping guide. Shops promise to
hold these prices -- and offer rain checks if supplies run out --
through Jan. 31.
