Communication is essential for great leadership, President Gordon
B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints told a
huge gathering of high school students, parents and coaches at the
2004 National Forensic League's speech and debate tournament. The
Friday evening event was held in the Tabernacle.
With Temple Square buzzing with young people participating in the
Beehive Nationals, President Hinckley received the league's
Communicator of the Year Award for his success in improving the world
by expanding his church, said Frank Langheinrich, debate coach at
East High School, one of the tournament's hosts.
