JULIUS CAESAR, Salt Lake Shakespeare, Babcock Stage, Pioneer
Memorial Theatre, through Aug. 15 (355-2787 or 581-7100). Running
time: two hours, 10 minutes (one intermission).
Shakespeare's dramatic works (not counting the comedies) can be
categorized primarily as "histories" and "tragedies" -- and "Julius
Caesar" fits both. It's an Elizabethan spin on the politics and civil
disorder in ancient Rome, with citizens and senators alike alarmed
about political power and ambition.
In this election year, similar concerns are being voiced today
(hopefully, with less bloodshed in the streets).
