Welcome to CBS News' latest production, "News in Wonderland," with CBS News itself playing the role of the Queen of Hearts: "Sentence first -- verdict afterward."

The trial of President Bush was directed by CBS News with itself as judge, jury, prosecutor, defender and executioner. I am still trying to figure out if Dan Rather was playing the role of the King of Hearts or the Mad Hatter.

But enough fun. What CBS News has done is violate America's sense of fair play. It is clear there are questions concerning its reporting of the Air National Guard memos.

Their answer to these questions is "Trust us."
