In travel guides, tourist literature and other freebie handouts
the local chamber of commerce and other promoters of paradise are
equal parts unabashed and unwavering when it comes to trading upon
Key West's mystique.
Web site keywest.com, which promotes area businesses, attractions
and real estate as part of its informational mission, casts no
illusions when offering advice to would-be residents: "So, you're
thinking about moving to Paradise? The first thing you need to know
is that paradise doesn't come cheap."
