TUCSON, Ariz. -- Despite outhitting the Arizona Sidewinders 10-7,
Salt Lake stumbled to a 5-4 defeat Thursday evening.
The Bees clung to a one-run lead over several innings, but they
blew that lead in the bottom of the ninth inning.
With one out, Tucson loaded the bases before Brian Barden scored
off a wild pitch. Then, Alberto Callaspo won the game for the
Sidewinders with a sacrifice fly to center field.
Salt Lake third baseman Adam Pavkovich mishandled a grounder
during that sequence to compound the Bees' problems. Salt Lake
finished with nine runners left on base and committed three errors.
For a while, it appeared the Bees would escape with a win.
