Stone Bridge 4, Langley 2
Returning to the AAA Liberty District final might have seemed
improbable two months ago for Stone Bridge. The Bulldogs lost 11
seniors from a team that advanced to the Northern Region semifinals
in 2006 and had one senior this season.
But Stone Bridge is back in the district title game after riding
the healed arm of sophomore pitcher Nick Fialdini in a 4-2 victory
over Langley on Friday in McLean. Stone Bridge will play No. 1
Madison tomorrow.
Fialdini, who hadn't started a game since spring break because of
tendinitis in his throwing arm, pitched five innings and allowed two
