Federal charges were filed Friday against a Topeka man in
connection with the robbery this week of Lyndon State Bank and a June
bank robbery.
U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren said Friday that Larry D. Merriweather,
21, was charged with two counts of bank robbery and three counts of
using and carrying a gun during the bank robberies. Merriweather is
charged in connection with an armed robbery and shooting of a
security guard Thursday morning at Lyndon State Bank, 1535 S.W.
Fairlawn Road.
Security guard Dwayne Tolbert was shot in the shoulder following
the robbery when he followed two robbers out of the building in an
