Article: Topeka woman convicted of involuntary manslaughter

A Topeka woman convicted last week of fatally stabbing a neighbor in a dispute stemming from the loan of a video game will be sentenced Dec. 20.

A Shawnee County District Court jury deliberated less than two hours Thursday before convicting Deshana Shantae Nelson, 25, of involuntary manslaughter in the July 30 death of Patricia Phillips, 43, 1152 S.W. Buchanan.

Phillips was at Nelson's house, 1115 S.W. Clay, to return items she had borrowed when the two argued outside the home. According to
