EL DORADO --- When Dan Schneider pulled on his Butler County
football uniform for the Grizzlies' season-opener against Trinity
Valley (Texas) on Aug. 31, he knew he'd see some action at center
before the curtain came down on the campaign some three months later.
Deep down, he hoped it would be later rather than sooner.
Schneider, a freshman tackle from Hayden, was leery simply because
he never had played center before being anointed the team's backup
during preseason workouts.
Despite his trepidation, Schneider saw action only minutes into
Butler County's first game. When starter Matt Webber got rolled and
hurt his knee, Schneider was pained, too.
