SILVER LAKE --- No, Silver Lake hasn't taken qualifying for the Class 3A state baseball tournament for granted.

Not even after 13 straight years of accomplishing the feat.

But if things had started to become a bit old hat, then Wednesday's regional championship game injected some enthusiasm back into the annual trek.

"This game made it not be ho-hum at all," Silver Lake coach Alan Cunningham said after his Eagles fought off a game Pleasant Ridge squad for a 4-2 win. "They were very scrappy and their pitcher, while he didn't throw it extremely hard, had us lunging. We knew it would be tough."
