AVONDALE, Ariz. - It was supposed to be a major mismatch - two-
time series champion Tony Stewart teamed with a pair of raw rookies
in NASCAR's premier series.
But it has worked out quite the opposite.
Denny Hamlin and J.J. Yeley have held their own so far this
season, taking the steps necessary to return Joe Gibbs Racing to its
status as one of NASCAR's elite teams.
"I feel like we've really taken our program to another level,"
Stewart said. "It's not been because of me, it's been because of the
two young guys coming in. Their attitude has kind of spread through
the shop.
