KANSAS CITY, Mo. - There was no Christmas in July this year, but a day at the Kansas City Irish Fest can be like St. Patrick's Day in September.

Green water was flowing from the fountains Friday evening at Crown Center on the opening day of Kansas City Irish Fest 2006, which continues through Sunday.

"Our Irish Fest is rivaling Dublin, Ohio, and Milwaukee, which are two of the biggest in the country, because we have such an interest here in the Midwest," said festival spokesman Pat O'Neill. "People forget that an awful lot of folks in this area have their roots in Ireland."
