A lot of small decisions brought Richard D. Anderson -- a Nebraska
native, U.S. Air Force Academy appointee, college football player and
would-be high school teacher and coach -- to a career in law.
When the 45-year-old Anderson, an attorney for 18 years, walks out
of a Shawnee County District Courtroom today, he will be Judge
Anderson, a Shawnee County district judge.
Sports were an important focus in Anderson's early life. When he
was 3, his father, Allen Anderson, suffered his first heart attack.
"Sports at that time, with a father who was pretty ill, helped me
keep on track," Anderson said.
Anderson played all sports at Holdrege (Neb.) High School. His
