Cigar ribbons, cigarette 'silkies' find spot in exhibition.

NORTH NEWTON -- The Marlboro Man has retired, and cigarette
billboards that once dotted the Kansas landscape are history, brought
down as part of a settlement between tobacco companies and the state.
But the influence tobacco advertising has had on generations of
Americans still lingers in the air at Bethel College's Kauffman
Museum.
A new exhibition titled, "Better Choose Me: Collecting and
Creating with Tobacco Fabric Novelties, 1880-1920," has tied together
an extensive collection of cigar ribbons, cigarette silks, tobacco
flannels and dozens of items made from tobacco flannels -- from
pillow cases to robes. ...
