Article: Gage Park replacing Minitrain track, ties

Question -- What has happened to the Gage Park Minitrain? Driving through the park last night, we noticed that all the rail and ties had been removed and the depot was fenced off with orange netting. What is going on? -- R.H., Topeka.

Answer -- "We are replacing the entire track and ties," said Alan Hayes, city park superintendent, "and putting in new ballast and straightening some of the curves."

He said the caboose near the depot was moved about 30 or 40 yards to the north beside the AnimaLand area this week.
