REFORM PARTY
- This group needs to rally around principles, not billion-dollar
egos, if it wants to stick around.
Keeping the Reform Party together was always problematic anyway.
For whatever reason, third-party movements in this country tend to
come and go --- but mostly go. Moreover, it's instructive to note
that pretty much the only thing the Reform Party members have in
common is a desire for change. If you can't agree on what form that
change should take --- or who should lead it --- you don't really
have a party. What you have is a protest.
Last weekend, the party imploded in an embarrassing, childish and
even violent exchange, and the unceremonious dumping of party
