I jumped the gun (excuse the choice of word) on Elderhostel's
"Fall Season Theme: The Civil War," which features 24 great on-site
Civil War programs. In early June, I attended the University of
Virginia "Civil War Conference on the 1864 Shenandoah Valley
Campaign."
A veteran of eight domestic Elderhostels over 11 years, I know
Elderhostels. Enough to be very excited about the fall programs and
recommend them without reservation.
The UVA program is an overscribed, once a year thing. But there
are an indeterminate number of similar programs out there for tens of
thousands of Civil War students, scholars and buffs.
