MANHATTAN --- Maybe Kansas State was just toying with Louisiana Tech.

Then again, it sure didn't seem like the time for it --- not in 109-degree heat that turned football into a cruel version of hot potato at kickoff Saturday night in KSU Stadium.

Yet there K-State was, running roughshod over La. Tech in this funky little reversal of the age-old Cat-and-Dog theme. All but two plays of the Wildcats' first scoring drive came on the ground.
