KEY WEST --- Another Key West Christmas season: balmy breezes, blue skies and poinsettias blooming in the local cemetery.

Forget the fact that the Gulf of Mexico is 1,000 miles to the south.

This Key West is located on the Kansas prairie, a downhome Coffey County township with a subtropical name.

Nevertheless, the Kansas Key Westers have basked in a seemingly endless round of late fall warm weather, an unusual December meteorological phenomenon usually reserved for places like Florida's Key West.
