Article: After fall, Barmes still trying to get on his feet

Two seasons ago, Clint Barmes fell down, and he still struggles to fully stand. He tries, but can't quite explain the mystery of his tumble from the heights of baseball.

"It's been me battling myself," he said.

Barmes is back in the minor leagues, playing for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He was, not so long ago, the Colorado Rockies' shortstop of the future.

He seemed ready to serve as one of the franchise's anchors. He hit with power. He played with a blend of charisma and passion that grabs fans' hearts. He was, as recently as the spring of 2005, the best rookie in the National League.
