ENGLEWOOD - David Kircus' legal troubles haven't ended, but the
Denver Broncos receiver got back in coach Mike Shanahan's good
graces by passing a lie-detector test.
Kircus was charged with second-degree assault last week.
According to a report by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department,
in the early hours on May 20 Kircus attended a party and had a
disagreement with the homeowner. The disagreement continued outside,
where Kircus punched the man and left, the report said.
Kircus told Shanahan he was acting in self-defense.
"David came to me and said, 'Coach, I guarantee you I didn't take
the first swing, I defended myself,'" Shanahan said Tuesday. "'I
