FIRST it was announced that Lord's was to be an archery venue
during the 2012 Olympics, now plans are being finalised to turn the
pavilion balcony, until recently a strictly male preserve, into a
stage for a Shakespeare Globe production of Romeo and Juliet.
The performance will take place in front of the pavilion with
around 500 people on the outfield and pavilion concourse, on Sunday
2 September. It will be part of the Globe's first tour, which will
also include performances at Leeds Castle and Wadham College,
Oxford.
